Who We Are

K. Gulhi Local Authority Company Limited (K. Gulhi LAC Ltd) is the official commercial wing of the Secretariat of the Gulhi Council. Established under the Decentralisation Act, our company was created to manage the island’s commercial assets and provide essential services with the efficiency of a private enterprise. By bridging the gap between local governance and corporate innovation, we ensure that K. Gulhi’s economic growth directly benefits its residents.

 

Our Purpose

Our primary goal is to drive the sustainable development of Gulhi Island. We focus on creating revenue streams that allow the Council to reinvest in community welfare, infrastructure, and public services. From managing tourism facilities to leading major construction efforts, K. Gulhi LAC Ltd is at the heart of our island’s transformation.

Building the Future: Our Recent Milestones

K. Gulhi LAC Ltd works closely with the Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure and national partners like MTCC to deliver landmark projects:

  • Land Reclamation: We successfully oversaw the addition of 10.15 hectares of new land, a critical achievement that provides space for housing and future business expansion.

  • Shore Protection: We have implemented over 940 meters of revetment and protective groynes to ensure our island remains resilient against climate change and rising sea levels.

  • Harbour Extension: Our ongoing harbour development project is set to enhance marine traffic capacity, providing better access for tourists and local businesses alike.
